Accessibility Statement
Last updated: 7 June 2026
Locawo wants the online shop at https://locawo.com to be accessible and easy to use for as many people as possible. This statement explains how we consider accessibility in the Locawo online shop, which areas have already been improved and where limitations may still exist.
This statement is provided voluntarily and will be reviewed and updated regularly as Locawo continues to grow.
Scope
This statement applies to the Locawo online shop at https://locawo.com. It covers, in particular, the homepage, category and product pages, cart, checkout, customer account, login and registration forms as well as legal information and online form pages.
Description of the Service
Locawo operates an online shop for reduced-carbohydrate and protein-enriched food products. Customers can search for products, access product information, add items to the cart, place orders, use a customer account and access legal online forms.
Legal and Technical Framework
In the ongoing development of the shop, we use the German Accessibility Strengthening Act (Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz, BFSG), the related regulation (BFSGV), the European standard EN 301 549 and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) at conformance level AA as guidance.
Accessibility Status
Based on our current self-assessment, the Locawo online shop is partially compliant with these requirements. This means that many central areas have already been improved with regard to usability, readability, mobile use and form clarity. At the same time, some barriers may still exist, especially in dynamic components or integrated third-party services.
Measures Already Considered
- clear page structure with semantic headings, sections and navigation areas,
- visible focus states for keyboard navigation,
- skip links for quick access to main content, search and navigation,
- responsive design for smartphone, tablet and desktop use,
- readable colour contrasts within the Locawo design system,
- understandable form fields with labels, required-field indicators and error messages,
- language-specific error messages in German and English forms,
- alternative text for relevant images where editorially maintained,
- reduced or controlled motion in interactive components,
- more accessible presentation of login, registration, customer account, cart and cancellation form.
Known Limitations
Despite ongoing improvements, some limitations may currently remain. These include in particular:
- individual third-party widgets, for example review, payment, shipping or security services,
- dynamic sliders, carousels or asynchronously loaded shop areas,
- older editorial content, images or alternative texts,
- PDFs, downloads or external documents maintained outside the current shop template,
- accessibility information for individual products where such information is not provided by manufacturers or other responsible economic operators.
Testing and Ongoing Improvement
The accessibility of the shop is currently assessed internally using technical and editorial checks. These include keyboard testing, mobile testing, browser checks, automated testing tools such as Lighthouse, axe or WAVE, and sample screen reader checks.
We understand accessibility as an ongoing process. New features and major changes to the shop should also be reviewed from an accessibility perspective in the future.
Feedback and Contact
If you notice a barrier or cannot use content or functionality, please let us know. Please describe as precisely as possible on which page or at which step the issue occurs.
